  1. In general, a winning formula for all business initiatives is to gather together (actually or virtually) the team for initial free-thinking or brainstorming about the project at hand. What went wrong last time? What did we learn that we can use next time to avoid that problem? Who has thoughts about a new way to accomplish tasks? What are our clients telling us about how we can solve their problems? It is critical that projects start by people being able to voice the lessons learned from the last project, then make them part of planning for the next one. Mind mapping is a great way to do this. With the right software (ConceptDraw or MindManager are the leading one), the initial map used to capture brainstorming can evolve to become the project plan. ConceptDraw enables you to toggle back and forth with no data loss between a mind map and project plan view. Mind mapping allows flexibility and supports creativity.
